Philosophy
The song comes first. Every song is different. I listen to the performance, the arrangement and the emotion, then build the mix around what matters.
I don’t use a template. I listen first. Make the right things felt. A mix isn’t about making everything bigger, brighter or louder.
It’s about knowing what deserves your attention — and when. A restrained verse can draw you toward a vocal.
A subtle change in the chorus can make a drum hit harder. Impact comes from contrast.
The listener already has a volume control. If the song connects, they’ll turn it up. I want the music to give them a reason to. Loudness is useful. Emotion is the point.
